Confession: I’m not from here. I’m a native Californian. Yes, yes, I know, why am I here? That’s a long story for another day, but needless to say, I am woefully ignorant about many of the sights in and around my adopted home of New England.

But Beacon Hill – how did I not KNOW about this place? I love architecture! I love old things! And cobblestones – those make me swoon. 

So when my bride Ashley was struggling to identify the perfect place for her engagement shoot, but said she wanted to shoot in Boston (and not in my typical haunt of trees or grass or beach), I had to find something that would be iconic and gorgeous. 

Apparently Beacon Hill is so iconic, that we had a second engagement shoot waiting for us to finish up at one of our shooting spots for their turn. Eek!

The big benefit to shooting at Beacon Hill, though, is that there are lots of awesome places to grab a drink before (and after!) shooting. Now that I’m a mom, it’s rare that I can get out of the house for a drink with other adults to joke around with or throw around pop culture references, so I certainly take advantage at every opportunity. (Note: Wedding Consults are regularly held at awesome restaurants and involve alcohol to some extent!)

Ashley and Matt were awesome – I think I had scared them a bit with the whole idea of an engagement shoot. Their wedding is in May of next year, so I think maybe Matt was hoping to avoid cameras until then. Fat chance, sir! In fact, I often recommend to brides & grooms that their wedding day NOT be the first time they have a camera pointed at them. Breaking the modeling ice does wonders for wedding photos.

Needless to say these two did an amazing job – I think they warmed up quite nicely! I’m not going to post the whole shoot, but here’s a teaser for now.
